Took a few test drives over the last few days - 80 miles on the OD. I get a lot of looks and thumbs up. Took some glamour shots. Car is getting AC charged right now, which will mean a major improvement over my back-sweaty test drives so far!

Do you have inspections in your area? Just wondering if you get flak not having side markers.

I remember growing up in Texas that "inspections" were of lights and horn. The only mandatory inspection in California is for smog, from which this car is exempt ('75 and older) - at least, for now. I'm sure there's some code on the books about side markers, and I could get hassled by a cop. But they've got bigger fish to fry, I think.

technically you have to be 65 or older to be truly 100% exempt in California
    BUT
most cops don't care as long as you have working running lights. You're more likely to get a thumbs up

My LED headlights are blinding. There's no missing this car at night.

I've seen at least one dip his head down under the rear view to get a look as he drove by.

I was not confident that I could cleanly cut out a cover for the shifter hole in my auto trans console, and I wanted the cover to include my power window switches so I didn't have to cut the console. Lucky to have a friend of a friend help me by drafting the CAD file based on my paper template, and had Dan's Metal Cutting cut it out of some aluminum sheet I had laying around on his water jet. I "brushed" it with 220 then 400 grit sandpaper on a block, and am really happy with how it came out. Glued the shifter boot to the underside, and voila!
