Thanks for the info and educated guesses on what happened. I actually bought the car for some parts for my daughters 72 camaro. It has an RPM intake, edelbrock carburetor with electric choke, a 10 bolt with the sway bar and a few other goodies I wanted to rob off of it. I paid $200.

I will try loading a few pics.

Hm . .. too big. I don't seem to have a way to edit them to make them under 100 kb

This link of of the crank at the back of the engine. Look at the top you can see the shiny chrome of the rear bearing surface of the camshaft sticking out.
