What purpose does the plastic piece serve in this metering plate?

    Most Holleys have this type.

I have seen COPO's small angle baffle style on many OEM and older model OEM replacement carbs, and on most all with side hung floats, Holley # 85-626, but are plastic instead of the brass I believe. The screen version works well in this case, Holley # 26-39

All the quality center hung bowls use the better designed extended baffle #26-89, the billet metering blocks use the #59-10, no drilling for the knurled pin.

Kickstand for working underneath it when you take it out?
