Nothing works as well as GM's own product for this purpose. It doesn't go into the gas tank. You pour it directly into the carb.

Great stuff. I haven’t seen that in over 15 years. I remember the oil and spark plugs needed to be replaced after use.

My set-up is basically brand new. When I swapped my engine into my other car, it had maybe a few thousand miles on it. At that time I noticed some of the intake valves had a little build up. I suspect the gas on the base is just cheap and the lowest amount of detergents. I'm not looking to clean a highway beater.
Good quality fuel in the tank is the best additive. VP or Sunoco mixed with pump gas works great. Amsoil and VP make good additives.

Berryman B12 is alright. About the best you can get. Is it going to unclog a carb? No. Is it going to unclog injectors? No. So what's it good for? It's pretty good at dissolving old stuff in the tank. Although so is a gallon or 5 of acetone.

I'm going to offer this... https://www.ls1.com/forums/f48/been-testing-oil-91206/ Its a really old thread, and I think the people that were involved have all moved on or Passed Away....But I tried it and it worked for me. My 92 Camaro was a daily driver for a really long time. The very best MPG I could get out of it was 20... This is a 305 Automatic TBI. The only thing I could count on was it easily passed smog. I tried this, and although it wasn't an overnight success, when I stopped the 200mile every weekend trips, I was getting 27MPG, and I think I could have squeezed a little more out of it. The whole point of this is, I pulled a couple of the easy to get to plugs and I was amazed at how clean they were. So Its not a lot of money to try it and you will find most of my post at the very end of the thread.

Actually there is a product that is specifically to remove carbon deposits in combustion chambers it’s called techroline by chevron. I worked there 40 yrs and the science lab was on our refinery premises so asked one of the scientist working on it how good it was. He showed me some pre and post treatment data that was pretty damn impressive. It’s an additive added to each tank so it happens over a considerable legnth of time but it works great!

Trade name "TECHRON". I used it in the engine test lab I worked in. Excellent stuff.

On ChrisFix's YouTube channel, he tests some of the combustion chamber cleaning additives and uses a borescope to look at before and after conditions. Interesting stuff! I'd read about the Marine Oil mix on another forum.

Nothing will work overnight, but over a period of time, "things happen".

I bought a can of Top Engine Cleaner last summer. It’s expensive but the GM Parts guy gave me a discount along with my orig discount b/c he felt sorry for me and my wallet.

Klean Strip brand
VM&P Naphtha about $20 US /gallon at hardware & tractor supply --- quarts too
most of the commercially prepared internal engine cleaners are primarily naphtha --- close kin to lighter fluid
