Every now and then, I'll pop a CD in and it sounds like its stuck...plays the same portion for like 10 seconds. Anyway to stop that from happening?

Clean the CD, check for scratches.

CD players like all consumer electronics today are very difficult to have repaired. Usually, the best solution is to replace the unit with a working one.

Make sure the lotion is not on your hands when putting in the next XXX movie, HAA HA , fingerprints and dust will foul them up, also clean the tray that you put them on as well.

Buy a CD cleaner disc that you play in the machine.

    Scratched CD's are common.
Use some toothpaste and your finger to polish the surface. Rinse it with water, you won't hurt it, and blot dry.

I was taught to handle vinyl records by the edges when I was a little kid. Pop was very particular about his records and sound system (early '60s). I still don't fingerprint discs of any kind. What I have had good luck with when I rented DVDs and they were almost invariably scratched was to use Zymoil. Worked every time. Wipe on, polish off, yer done...
