changing U bolts only

    I think I see what you mean ... I don't think it really matters. I've seen tubes dented but not with small ubolts, they were big beefy ubolts and std rear end tubes.

    Gary, great info on the matter...I don't think mine had washers on my U bolts. :confused: Eaton recommends them..Are Grade 8 strong enough in your opinon? Or what do you recommend????

    Grade 5 or 8 is OK - you don't need overkill here IMO. GM rarely used grade 8 hardware. I'd try to find washers thicker than standard. Notice it's flat washers & not lock washers.
