    Holy smokes!...on pump gas....

"That's right, the newest big block crate motor from GM makes 1004 hp and 876 lb-ft of torque on pump gas. The ZZ632/1000 does so without a turbo- or supercharger, relying instead on displacement alone."

"the 621-hp ZZ572/620 with which it shares an engine block mold goes for $16,304.82. Expect this to land north of that figure"

Sounds like a lot of fun but that price tag will limit the buyers.

WOW, that's a very nice and popular combo, guess GM got on board. Pump gas and hitting 1.59 HP per cube, and 1.39 TQ per cube, right in the target range.

Looking at the $ per HP of the ZZ572/620hp, it might be around 26K, but if they come down to 20k or so, that's competing with the big crate builders.

And even if GM lists for 20-24k, it's still a deal. Hard to beat the "bang for the buck" in many of GM's crate offerings, but not great for the independent engine builders.

Well now... Ain't that a friggin' beast of an engine?

It would take a lot of suspension and other drivetrain upgrades to put that kind of power to the ground.
People already running twin turbos or prochargers (who have a vehicle set up for that kind of grunt) could probably shed some weight and complexity with this monster under the hood.

@ Lowend, I just looked on the Shafiroff site, 632 BBC Ultrastreet-pump gas is $18,250 and is 945hp, 845TQ, so hp per $ would mean GM would need to sell @ $19,390 to match the hp/$ of the Shafiroff deal.

Did not look at the build specs, but there's lots to consider. GM knows the deal....heck, they designed it!!!!

@ twisted_Metal, you are right, nothing hit's like a strong BBC N/A setup right of the brake, add a micro switched NOS plate and a Fogger to compensate for the low CR and timed right and hang on.....

None of you guys have a car that would handle that much power, but then neither do I, lol.

KD kindly pointed out that I was late to the party on this one. But HOLY CRAP what a monster. Not a huge big block fan, but the power of that thing more than offsets any weight penalty I used to moan about.

Since the Camaro is supposedly on the way out, anyone think there's a chance GM will put that motor in the last batch of COPOs or Z28s?
