And it’s true of Kirk Cousins, who is a dumb man’s idea of a poor man’s Matt Ryan. His topline stats are a transparent façade. Beneath all that gaudy yardage lie the numbers that talking heads have routinely weaponized against Cousins, and rightly so. He’s 5-26 against winning teams. Has a career road record of 13-24-2. A combined primetime record of 7-25. An absolutely woeful completion percentage under pressure. The worst QB in football from the 10-yard line on in. One of the worst third-down passers in the entire league. If I missed any other damning metrics, I promise you that an analyst will be waiting to fill in those gaps the next time you hear Cousins discussed on TV or on the radio.

Cousins is 31 years old now. At that age, [Parcells voice] you are what your stats say you are. There’s a large enough sample size now for the stats to confirm that Cousins is a superficially prolific signal-caller who cannot be trusted when his offense desperately needs to trust him. I’d call him a choker, but he doesn’t even win enough games to get in POSITION to choke. Great quarterbacks like Tom Brady inspire confidence in a fanbase. You believe that your man will come up huge when sh** is tight.

Cousins inspires no such bravado. There’s no compelling evidence—neither anecdotal nor scientific—that he ought to. He no longer has the right to blame his shortcomings on misfortune, nor does he have the right to claim that sh***y throws are out of character for him. That backbreaking pick he threw to Packers corner and potential Slayer replacement guitarist Kevin King? That was very much in character for Cousins. That is in keeping with his track record. The stats tell you to EXPECT him to f**k up when it matters most.

It's common knowledge that Tebow was cut before his rookie contract ran out ran out.

A contract to be a "Camp Arm" in the preseason doesn't count if you never make the 53 man roster.

Tebow was never under contract and suited up for an NFL game after the 2012 season. If he had managed to make a roster, he'd have qualified for an NFL pension (requires 4 years). But he didn't, so he didn't.

    Try and keep up.

Thanks for documenting how average Kirks contract was. I was using the actual salary cap numbers, but the average yearly salary only helped makes Kirks $28M look more reasonable.

Wilson didn't get any deeper in the playoffs, The Steelers didn't make the playoffs, Rodgers couldn't win on the road either, Wentz didn't make it out of the first round, Ryan didn't make the playoffs, Garopollo only made it because of his defense and running game, Stafford and Carr didn't make the playoffs and Brees lost to Cousins (may I remind you that Cousins led a 9 play OT TD drive where he completed 4 of 5 passes for 63 yards to win the game - a very CLUTCH performance in the playoffs).

Cousins was a bargain when you look at that list!

10 QBs out of 32 that have atleast 2 QBs isn’t average. A good portion of that list was on IR or playing injured.

Stafford, Ryan, Brees, Big Ben, Rodgers, Wentz, Russel Wilson, & Jimmy G (and still going to the SB).

    he’s an overpaid mediocre QB.

Don't overlook the receivers that make the QBs the stars either. Really stands out when the pass hits a receiver in the chest and he drops it, while the real standout makes a one hand catch dragging two defenders hanging on. Those guys should make equal money I think.

Since you are refusing to look at this with common sense (comparing backup QB pay to that of a starter and comparing rookie contracts to veteran contracts), there is no need to continue this discourse.

Goal posts never moved. It's apparent that desperation has caused you to make false claims when you can't come up with a response to facts.
