i've got a 15 yr old non clear coat single stage enamel paint job on my camaro and whenever the paint gets wet from rain or if i wash it then the sun drys it off i get some nasty water stains in my paint . even with a good quality wax ,glaze and sealer on the paint i still get these nasty water stains

today i cleaned my paint with a quality pre-wax cleaner then i used a clay bar on the paint to clean up the paint .i used next a quality glaze ,sealer then a quality carnuba wax and the paint was very shiny/clean .during the car show i was at today we had a 10 minute heavy downpour from a t-storm and after that the sun came out and dried the rain water off my paint and that's when i noticed the white stains

i tried using the pre wax cleaner again then a claybar then a glaze compound and even though i saw some paint transfer on the towel i was using the stains are still there . so is there anything else i can use to clean these water stains besides what i've tried ,would a polishing compound work ??

could i use the 3M light cut liquid rubbing compound or the med cut compound ?? .this problem with the water staining has been a problem since i bought the car 12 years ago and only happens if i don't wipe the rain water off the paint immediately and it gets baked in to the pain by the glaring sun .like mentioned previously in my other posts i'm using mothers waxes/polishes or surf city products but no matter how many times i wax my paint if the paint gets wet from the rain and baked by the sun that's my main issue

like tonight the water beaded up nicely after it rained so i know the wax is protecting the paint but the rain drops acted like magnifying glasses and left a stain in the paint

Meguire's and Mother's both make pre-wax paint cleaners, they change the name of their product so fast to keep up. Anyway, they are paint cleaners, pre-wax what ever, water spots rub right off my single stage 10 year old paint.

thanks i will check those out and see if that helps ..... now why would i keep getting these stains even with good quality waxes/polishes on top of the paint ???? ,this is so frustrating especially if i don't wipe the car down after it gets wet and then the sun dries off the moisture ???

I don't use the cleaner until the car is dry. I'll towel it dry then break out the cleaner. By the way I never wax my car. Believe it or not.

i'll try the pre wax cleaner but i'm thinking a light cut rubbing compound or polishing compound might work better .like mentioned previously why do i have this problem with my paint after it rains and the sun dries the moisture off leaving stains even though it's got a good coat of wax on the paint . the wax allowed the water to bead up so i know it was protecting the paint but after the sun dried the rain off the paint i had white spots all over my paint

I always used to use the meguiars medalion line paint cleaner that was only available at paint stores. It is no longer available by that name, I don't know if they have renamed it as something else but that is what I found that worked very well. Good luck.

^^ Good article, thanks for sharing. I don't have a single stage paint job, but I do battle water spots especially on my DD which is black.
