Chuck,

There has to be something you can put on your paint to make it less porous.

The products I use in rural Texas may not work for you in So Cal.

I'll start a thread at Autogeek.net and see what the members over there say.

i've used meguires ,mothers ,zymol and surf city products and these were their top of the line waxes & polishes all of these resulted in the same water spot formation on my paint

i also spent most of the afternoon today with meguires fine cut liquid compound and it removed paint as noticed on my microfiber towels but barely did anything to remove these stains .it did remove 5% of the stains and made the paint glossy/shiny but once the car is outside in the sun you can see the water stains

I posted something on this a while back...to get water spots off of your windows, try the stuff called CLR or Limeaway.

I have some water spots in my paint too...if I get some time tomorrow maybe I"ll try it there and post up some pics.

.
My previous post had some more details but I'm writing this post on my phone and can't easily get link to previous.

,
Not that I am an expert by any stretch, but cutting or amy kind of abrasion. doesn't seem right to me for this issue...you're trying to solve a chemical problem with a mechanical solution...just my thinking, not trying to offend anyone here.

I'm thinking more along the lines of a glaze then sealing it in with a wax or sealant.

Since glazes fill, maybe the impurities in the water won't be able to get in the microscopic intentions in the paint.

I use them here and everything washes off my paint with ease.

Chemical Guys, http://www.chemicalguys.com/default.asp , make some awesome products and are in Inglewood. If a solution exists, I bet they know it!!!

I'm presently using their blacklight glaze/ sealer on an orange car and a black truck. I have that topped with a carnauba wax from another manufacturer. Then I use their V7 spray sealant after every wash. Creates one slick finish!!!

Blacklight: http://www.chemicalguys.com/BEST_WAX_FOR_BLACK_CARS_CAR_WAX_BLACK_p/gap_619_16.htm I have used it on lighter colors with no issues. It doesn't have colored fillers like the old colored waxes or Turtle Wax black box.

Understood. Any chemical you recommend?

There is always more than one solution to a problem.
