    Hi,

The console bezel in my 73 looks like below. (the first picture)
From above I can't see what "gear" I'm in, it is all black.

Is that the way it should be, or is it like picture number 2?

    Thx,
    John

It's supposed to be all black like the first pic for 73-78. That's because the gear indicator was in the dash between the speedo and the tach (or fuel if you had idiot lights).
The second pic is similar to 79-81 Camaro but Camaro used PRNDSL. Maybe that one is for a Firebird.

EDIT: I used a 79-81 shifter plate (bezel) because I liked having the light bulb under the lens. There's a blue bracket for it. I had a lens made with the same font as the gear indicator in the dash.

For an automatic, there should be a small thin cable coming from the gear indicator in the gauge cluster. The cable attaches to a screw in the bowl on the steering column.

To my knowledge, the cluster plug for gauges is wired differently than idiot lights so that would be a consideration.

The tach you have is not for a 73Z. I know you're in Denmark, so getting another tach may not be easy. I don't think it's that big of a deal as long as it works.

Here's a link to my restored cluster that Daniel at Gauge Marks did for me. He put a voltmeter in there and one of his oil gauges in place of the clock. He's a sponsor on Nasty.

Other than the tach, everything else looks good that I can see. Your fortunate that the bucket still has all four mounting tabs. Those always get broken.

    Thanks Billy,
The gauge panel is a bit broken, I'm looking for a nice used on Ebay, but is no rush, when it's there, I will buy it.

I did print out the guide, and the wire picture the forum.

Thanks for the link :- )
