I bought a steel cowl hood from restoworld.com, its located in Dayton Oh. not far from me, and it bolted on perfect and had very very little work to make it super nice. I was thinking cost was around $350-$400, but well worth it.
The problem with the steel hoods is that they are only 2 3/4 inch cowls.
I have been looking over the US Body Source page at the 3 in Dominator Cowl hood. I currently have the twin turbo hood which I really like on my 70 but it has broken corners from the previous owner. I like the Dominator hood as it starts more up front and doesnt have the ridge on middle of the hood.
I have a 4" Harwood lift off hood that looks great, but I'm looking to sell it and get a bolt on as well with a little less clearance... If anyone has a 3" bolt on, I'm very interested (open to trades also). My hood is very light to lift off by yourself, but I just don't like having to do it.
Havent found any steel hoods bigger than 2" cowl so it looks like I'm gonna go with a fiberglass bolt on. Harwood seems to be the best bang for the buck but the cowl doesnt start as close to the front of the hood as the Glasstek......decisions decisions
I have a 4' Harwood bolt-on and its a nice hood, but it takes some work before there ready to install.
I had to do some triming and block sanding.
http://www.feathercarbon.com this guy makes some quality stuff
Anyone have pics or experience with his 6" cowl? $100 cheaper than a harwood. Might have to go this route if the quality is comparable
Only problem I see is they're only pull-offs
