hey guys how do you tell what the origional stripe color was i no its on the cowl tag but i cant figure out what part tells the stripe color

I ordered my 78 Z28 new and still have the build sheet for it. It has 19R for the trim like yours. Therefore with black interior and code 19 (black) body paint, you will have gold/black stripes like mine.

On my build sheet the gold stripe is coded 55A #2 Gold Stripe

87 - Hardtop
N - Norwood, OH

19R - Black vinyl
A51 - bucket seats (all cars)

Z28 - Exterior Trim Codes (Norwood)
BK1 - Color of Steering Column & Inst. Panel (mine was BLK for black) Not sure why yours is not BLK with 19R trim.

ok thanks!!! i got one more question you dont no anywere were i could get the 1978 correct emblems do you ive heard that they dont remake the 1978 z28 emblems? are they the same in 1979 i no that 1980 and 1981 are totally different looking

1979 never had them. On the front top of the header panel was a sticker and the rear was a normal Camaro emblem on the gas door and a sticker on the spoiler. 78 was a 1 year emblem and so was 77.

Here's my 77 Z28 front I ordered brand new too. A 77 emblem will be closer than a 80-81 emblem. Plus someone is making the 77 decal only without the black plastic frame.

yea the 77 is really close im going to a swap meet this weekend hopefully i will be able to find a pair of 78's but if not i could settle for 77's thanks for the help!

hi iam christopher i have a trim code 15D 84L 84U L THEN THE NEXT LINE IS A51 CCI BOTTOM LEFT IS Z28 S12 i know the cci is t-top A51 is bucket seats 84L IS CHARCOAL what is S12 and what is the D after the 15 is silver. Did you say that the vin wont be the same as the trim tag. this is the vin 1G1AP87LBN128832

The trim tag will never have any part of your VIN on it.
L= lacquer based paint
203386 - Body number

15D is your interior code but there's no such code as D.
Interior Trim Codes:
Code number colors: 15 = Silver, 19 = Black, 26 = Blue, 64 = Camel, 75 = Red
Suffix letter is trim level. - B = Standard Cloth, C = Custom Cloth, N = Custom vinyl, R = Standard vinyl

S12 is steering column color. Silver

thanks for your help. this is funny my 15D is my interior code but it has a D behind it i know the the codes are n,r,c,b, oh well thank you for your help on the S12.

Aren't there several places on the car that has the VIN stamped ?

When I replaced the heater core on my 1979 Z28 I noticed there were two spots on the firewall UNDER the core cover where the last four digits of the serial no. was stamped.
