You have to check your casting date on the passenger side bell housing flange

I just bought a 65 Impala with what was told to me to be a 350 4bolt. I've checked mortec and other websites, but not able to completely discern the info on the front pad.
The casting number is a 3970010
And the pad numbers are as follows:
T1014CKH7
17D427134
Can anyone shed light on this for me?

CKH code was used in 1973 and 1974 on 350 in many cars, but those engines would not likely be 4 bolt main blocks. You won't know until you get the pan off some day.

The VIN on your block however doesn't match a 73 or 74 engine. It wants to be a 1977 engine as the second digit is a 7. CKR would be a 1977 engine. Is it possible that the H is really an R?
The D in the VIN says the car was built at Atlanta and I don't have a listing of the cars Atlanta built in 1977. As late as 1975, they were building Chevelle and other A body cars.

Just bought a 73 K10 with what I believe to be a 69 Z28 motor. Block is cast with 3970010 and stamped VC918TJD. Anyone able to confirm? I bought truck thinking it was original motor, but was way more excited earn I saw these numbers...
