I have a 1971 Camaro with Z28 badges all over it but I don't think it's the real deal, how do we decode the body tag to find out what I have?

Welcome to the group. po a couple of pictures of your car. My 71 Z28 RS was a California built car and the trim tag doesn’t show mine as a Z28 built car but if your car was a Norwood built car it should have Z28 on the trim tag. Of course there are different ways to fi out what you have using the link that Twisted posted

NOR = Norwood assembly plant.

As a rule, Norwood cars had Z28 stamped on the cowl tag, while Van Nuys cars did not. I believe there are known exceptions to both (not really sure), so there's always a chance your car was mis-stamped, but I doubt it meaning it's not a real Z/28
