From Dish:

"On February 23, we experienced a cybersecurity incident that has affected some of our internal communications, customer call centers, and internet sites. We immediately activated our incident response and business continuity plans to contain, assess and remediate the situation. Cybersecurity experts and outside advisors were retained to assist in the evaluation of the situation, and we notified appropriate law enforcement authorities.
On February 27, we became aware that certain data was extracted from our IT systems as part of this incident. It’s possible the investigation will reveal that the extracted data includes personal information."

Also:
While we work to restore our standard billing processes, this secure payment form is available for you to make payment towards your DISH TV service. You will need your 16-digit DISH account number starting with 82, found at the top of your most recent paper billing statement.

Okay, fine, but I don't get, nor have I ever got, a paper bill with my account number. I don't have a clue what it is.

My service is still working. Has anyone here been affected by this? Now why don't I trust this "secure payment form?

My mom had the same issue. Before she moved I told her to just drop dish and get Xfinity since they already use them for internet. I also let her use my login for NBC Sports so she can watch the Giants games cause Dish doesn't get that channel anymore amongst others. Took my sister like an hour on the phone to get it turned back on for her.

Getting off topic but seems like cable and all the streaming TV services are just getting out of control these days. Streaming started out pretty reasonable but now pretty much equal cable with the absurd pricing to just watch TV. Direct Now started at $40 a month, now about $100. YouTube just raised their rates and added a extra $8 month surcharge, now at about $80 a month. And the dish companies always were near criminal in their pricing and extra charges. Now seeing the 5G cell towers are scrambling over the air TV signals too.

Update: Dish TV is a disgrace!

They cut our service today. Through no fault of our own we now have no Dish. We need an account number that never gave me, only the last 4 digits show on my emails I get from them, not a 16 digit number that I need to make a payment. The card I use can't be used either because they have no way of verifying it.

I've been on the phone for over an hour now. "You are 777th in line if we can't get to you today during regular business hours we will keep your place in line starting Sunday at 8am EDT" No other way of contacting them.

My monthly bill has increased over $100 since the beginning!

As soon as I can I'm dumping Dish!

^ Seems like they saved you the trouble of dumping them if they don’t want your money.

Don’t be surprised if they call you with a better offer to continue their “service”.

Total screwup on their part and it probably impacts tens of thousands of their subscribers.

Finally talked to the right person and they were willing to accept my $146.47 payment. How nice of them!

They actually had the nerve to say I owed a late fee of $15! I went off on them in a big way when I heard that, even though I understand the people taking phone calls are just doing their job and it wasn't their fault the company got hacked and refused to pay the ransom.

This was after countless hours on the phone and keeping my wife from going ballistic!

I saw where Direct TV had a special deal for disgruntled Dish customers.

Rant over. LOL
