Iv had the car for about 6 years and in that time iv kept up with the normal oil change but iv only done 1 coolant flush and I have never bothered to do a transmission flush or change the rear differential. i can’t say it’s ever been change cause idkn what the previous owners did/didn’t do so my question is how important is it to change those fluids and also how frequent should you do it. Thanks

Transmission fluid on our cars is recommended to be changed every 15,000 miles. Pull your dipstick out and wipe with a paper towel. If the fluid is brownish colored and you have a dark mark on the towel, you need to change it. I change mine once a year no matter how many miles I put on it. It's just a quirk I have. If the differential fluid hasn't been changed since you've had it, I'd go ahead and do it. If your car has a limited slip rear end, don't forget to get some GM posi additive. It's the best stuff on the market for our cars.

I have the coolant, the old green stuff, changed every 2 years in my '78 Camaro no matter the mileage. I go by the owner's manual for my major guide in knowing when to change any fluid.

Other than oil and filter changes, I do a major flush/ change on everything, every 5-6 years.
I just completed it this summer for my Z/28
    -Flushed radiator
    -Changed 4 speed gear oil.
-Changed rear end fluid and was sure to get GM posi additive.
    -Siphoned and changed PS fluid.
    -Flushed the brake fluid.
    -Repacked front wheel bearings.
    -Changed fuel filter.
