Door hinge pins and bushings, whew

Thought I'd finally put on some new weather stripping on the doors. Noticed this and that so as usual the job balloons. Door has been sagging for years, figured I "throw in" some new pins and bushings and see if that helps. That job sure got out of hand with the original pins and the location that's darn near impossible to get to. So:

Got a surprise here. Never seen plastic hinge bushings on any Chevy, and these long heavy doors did a job on these.

Are these really plastic or brass. Upside these can still be replaced. Dorman has a kit with various sized bushings and have used a few of them to do my hinges....

Like you, I've never seen plastic bushings before. Every one I've replaced had the brass ones. I suspect the brass will outlast plastic.

Those look like 4 speed shift rod bushings,lol.

Damn, I'm getting ready to do mine this weekend. Looks like you just cut the pin in half? Any other tips?

Once the new pins and proper bushings are in you won't be able to put a locking crimp at the end like the factory did so you could add 2 mig weld tacks.

Later GM vehicles used those same star clips. (It's what they used in my 2000 GMC Jimmy.)

Mine had 2 plastic bushings.
