 My passenger door is stuck. Both the inside and outside handles seem to be operating the latch and linkage effectively when I compare to the driver's door.

I noticed there are two stages of the latch mechanism, the first allows the door to open about 1/2" then the final allows the door to come completely open (guess its for safety like the hood?). Well mine will open the first stage, enough so that I can reach my fingers from inside the car and feel that the second stage is still grabbing the striker bolt. My door panels are off so its easy to see and work inside but I can't get it past the second stage.

Anyone experience this? I tried loosening the strike but no help. Any ideas?

    I'm serious.

Boot it open from the inside while someone else holds the handle up and pulls from the outside.

Make sure the lock is released first..

Boot or a shoulder works good. Sounds latch mech. is shot. Or the Latch pin on the jamb is worn out. Good luck

Before footing the bill for a new latch, check the adjustment on your striker. I have had some that, if the striker is shimmed out too far, will actually drag on the latch and be very hard to open. Just a thought.
