I would have to agree. The amount of light our star puts out even with only 1-2% exposed makes a HUGE difference in what you see and hear. Birds roosting in the grape vines at the vineyard and the sudden sound of every critter that makes night noises, for just a couple of minutes, in the middle of the day. We drove 1000 miles and, to me, it was worth it!
Did yours blink to dark and light real fast. Mine did. I just used a hand held one My kids almost had no interest, I had to drag them out to look. But then the clouds came a wreck it. I drank my beer and had a good time while I cooked on the grill.
Exactly what mine did. My had held was only rated at 10 so I just gave up and went inside. It's just an overhyped shadow anyway.
We had 99.4% blockage here at work and it wasn't any darker than a bad thunderstorm, it was enough to make the cicadas start making noise and turn on the street lights but not very dark. I may drive to southern IL to see the next one in a couple years in totality.
