Edelbrock step up springs

Does anyone happen to know the difference is between the step up springs for the 1406 Performer and the 1906 AVS2 carburetors? You can buy a set of just the springs for the 1406 (EDL-1464) anywhere, but I can only find the 1409 (EDL-1948) springs in the ridiculously overpriced kit. I've got the AVS2 and i'm not buying an $80 kit just for 2 springs.

i would check to see what metering rods are in it and what it has for jets also. Did you buy it new?

Yeah, it was brand new from Jegs, so it's all stock .101 primary and .098 secondary metering jets; .070 x .037 metering rods; orange (5" Hg) step-up spring.

and is it running ok?choke?did you set it up using a vacuum gauge.

Yeah, it runs great, aside from the enormous amount of 93 octane it guzzles down, lol. I set the choke by the book, and I used a vacuum gauge on the manifold port, and it holds steady at 16 after adjusting the idle mixture screws. I've got the fuel pressure regulator set just below 6 psi, and my timing is set right where it likes it. I'm sure the 10.18:1 compression, bigger cam, and not so great head flow aren't doing it any favors.

was it better on gas before that carb?what rpm are you running at driving? I have a 750 that's great on gas. What do you have it on? Gear ratio,etc?

Lol, naw, it was waaay worse with the janky tbi setup. With that, it was only getting around 7 mpg when I first bought the truck. I can't put an exact number on it, but if I had to guess, i'd say it's getting somewhere in the 10 mpg ballpark now. But i've completely rebuilt the engine and then carb swapped it with the 650 cfm AVS2 and 2701 Performer EPS intake, with an HEI distributor. Had to get rid of the sensors before they drove me crazy. It's definitely not the original rear end and i'm not sure what it came out of, but it's got the stock 8.6 10-bolt 3.42's with 275/65/16 inch tires, and a 700r4 that I just rebuilt a few months ago, and i've got the total weight down to 4500 lbs. on a 1992 Extended Cab K1500 ½ ton P/U. I've dedicated every day of the past 3 years fixing and upgrading literally everything on it from the rubber to roof. Most of my driving is done around 40 - 50 mph, and it runs right around 1500 - 1900 rpm
