The educational system and the media have convinced a large enough part of the population that we need to destroy the life boats and make the hole in the hull bigger so we sink faster.
I had heard that Tesla was working on a "Quick Change Battery Station" for their cars to solve the problem of long charge times on extended trips. You drive over the "changer" it takes out your depleted battery and inserts a fully charged one in less than 10 min. An enterprising crook could figure a way to yank your battery in less that 10 min also!
I saw a station like that over in Shenzhen when I was working there. Shenzhen has gone big on electric vehicles. All the buses and taxis are electric as are all scooters/bikes, except for police motorcycles. They also made it easier to get 'green' vehicles over gas powered ones. You have to apply for a permit to buy a car and if it is a gas vehicle, I was told it can take over 30 days to get permission but an electric or hybrid vehicle you get permission pretty much immediately.

Sure, Russians forever, but I thought it was an interesting interpretation of the Clean Air Act that I hadn't heard before ..

There's that "zero-emissions" thing again.
People have been dumbed down enough think it's "zero emissions" if they're not doing the emitting themselves (and they somehow think electricity just magically comes for free out of their electrical socket). Nevermind all the pollution, environmental damage, and human-rights abuses in the third world and developing nations it took to produce the car in the first place.
Since the whole green energy thing is being sold on the basis of global environmental impacts, it's beyond laughable to call it "zero emissions".
