Emergency brake light

The e brake light in my 72 ss does not work the bulb is good , should the e brake light switch have power to it all the time ?

With the key "On", the E-brake switch connection should have power.

The circuit is completed when the switch makes a ground connection.

If you unplug the switch at the e-brake (or the proportioning valve) and ground it... the light should come on.

If the wires to those two switches aren't getting power... the problem is probably in the connection to the cluster circuit panel, corrosion at the lamp socket contacts or a broken wire.
