Do you have good pictures to post here? Seems a little off. Date code isn't A 25 9 ?? The engine suffix code of T4W doesn't show up in my info but that may be because it was a Canadian built engine.

It was built in St. Catherine's, Ontario on February 13th. Casting date could be January 25th of either 1969 or 1979.

Is there a partial VIN near the engine code on the front pad? Slightly smaller stamping. Do you think it is original or replacement? Is the block orange or blue?

But, posting pictures will be the best option if you can. Good luck.

Cool thanks 2nd owner, I’ll attach some pictures, it was blue when it came out, that’s why I figured it was from something else, machined it then started scratching my head! This car has been handed around many times

T4W: Production Model Year Vehicle Model Code
T4W is not listed in the car parts catalogs because typically suffix codes that start with a "T" are truck engines, not always but majority are. Maybe a 350 but likely a 305 if 1989 model truck.

Definitely a 350, 4” bore, 3970010 casting on upper flywheel housing LS, I was wondering about that ‘T’ if it referred to truck, thanks COPO

I see two shades of blue.

The lighter blue at the top edge of the block looks like "corporate blue" which was used from 77-82, IIRC.

The other shade of blue looks like Ford blue. (An apparent repaint of the block at some time.)

I would guess it's a 79 truck engine.

I would not throw it away, from your pictures it looks like a 4 bolt main, do the main caps have N on them? Since there is no way of telling if it is a 69 or 79 block just paint it orange can say it is a 69 block. :)

Dipstick on the driver's side is a pre 80 I think. I did find a T5W truck motor in a listing but could be quite a bit different.
