Engine overspray

    Does anyone have a picture of the engine overspray onto manifolds and houses for 1972 camaro? Thanks for any infirmation.

    What do you mean by Engine over spray? If you get paint on the exhaust manifolds it will likely burn off on the first start up.

    I was asked by the restoration shop if I wanted overspray on manifolds and hoses? I don’t know if they have a special paint.

    IDK about that. I would think that the engine was painted prior to installation. I would not want it but someone might know if that was a thing at the factory.

    I've seen it on "correct" restos, even on original cars. Usually pretty obvious on aluminum intakes

    Tonawanda or Flint engine?

    If I recall correctly, the overspray on exhaust manifolds happened on Tonawanda small and big blocks starting in 1965. Small blocks built at Flint (including SHP Z28 engines) did not have the exhaust manifolds attached until after paint. The intakes were on with plastic covers over them. Varying amounts of overspray were around the edges depending on who had the gun and how he felt that day. This is for a 69, but the procedures didn't change for 72:
