I am going to take out the Turbo 400 and put a P/G in the car. May have to put more gear in the back but it will make the car hook better with less gear multiplication going from a 2.48 gear to a 1.76 first gear. I sort of had the same trouble in the 90's and stuck in the glide and the car was actually quicker and faster the 2 speed over the 3 speed. I know the next few engines are going to make a lot more power than this little 406 Vortec deal so I just need to settle the car down a touch.

If you go to different tracks where prep is different, it will be more consistent too. And I know you know you can get different ratios for them for low gear. I wouldn't mess with the rear gear yet.

I have a good friend that races a 1968 Nova 4dr with a 505 BBC in it with a glide. He has always been spot on with that car and when he used to race on the street with the P/G the car hardly ever lost a race as he would hook and the other guys spun.

hooking up the 1/2 the battle...especially in the 1/8 mile. All the power in the world means NOTHING if you can't put it down.

Buy the Door Slammers Chassis book written by Dave Morgan, this is the bible for drag racers on getting a car to launch and hook.

A buddy went racing last weekend and said he was on Lay's potato chips track, put 100lbs. of sand in the trunk and hooked right up. I might have to try that.
