Dave you are right, I owned a number of these over the years from my '69 Z days. I saw aftermarket ones on E-Bay or D&R Classics website, can't remember for sure but think they were about $120. Might be a good alternative to an original one.

My web searching shows that Northern Corvettes is the only place that has the repo 270 coil in stock.
Are we sure that the 270 coil is correct for the entire 1970 Z28 production run?

Yes it's correct throughout the 70-72 Z/28 model years. (It was also used on '69 Z/28's w/cowl induction)

NOTES: Info from M21RSZ28
- The 270 coil was used first used on the 1966 Chevelle w/4bbl and large 17" air cleaner
- The early (66-67) 270 coil letter code was BR (no dash between the B and R i.e. 270 BR)
- In 1968 the letter code changed to B-R (dash between the letters i.e. 270 B-R)

I just did a quick search for them also, and I'd suggest getting one from Northern before they're gone

What do you think? NOS or Reproduction?

Looks reproduction to me. The font on the text is a bit thick.
This is mine, but it has the dash between the B and R

That appears to be a reproduction. It doesn't have the gutters for the wire end the rest on under the fastener nuts. Also the thin fastener nuts and lock washers as originals do. Also have the same answers as Dave 70LT1Z28. All the letters appear thicker. All call outs to me it's a reproduction.
