Firewall carpet cover

I just finished installing new seats and carpet in my 70 Camaro and bought a new firewall carpet cover that mounts by the steering column. I also bought a set of the plastic push fasteners. How do these mount? The holes in the firewall look to small for the plastic push fasteners

It bolts through those holes. There are 2 needed. No pins.
