Thanks for the offer but 4:10's won't do it...I seem to recall doing the calculations a while back...I do know the Wallace site is completely off when I tried that...

It said with 4:30 gears and 28" tires at 120 mph trap speed I would go through at 6100 rpm...I am at 7000 rpm around the 1000' mark I know for an absolute fact...

    the Wallace site usually doesn't factor-in converter-slippage

I didn't think 4.10's would do the job, but wanted to make that offer to you

I would think that 3.90's (minimum, maybe 3.70's?) is what you'd need to run 1/4-mile, but that might kill your 1/8-mile times, which is what you run 99% of the time

Wallace number are quite low....says I have a 4.50 gear (4:10) says I go thru the traps at 6100 (6800) says my tire size is 25.6 (28)....so yeah its off a bit.

I KNOW the convertor plays a huge roll in this but, 28 in tire 5500 stall trap around 125 (ave) and I go thru the traps at 6800...maybe your convertoe is too loose?

Heavy as my junk is I really like the way the 4:30's get me going...I also like the way I hit the tree with them...thanks for the offer anyway, Dog...

My converter is a 5200 stall and fairly loose...I have it that way because I leave off the foot at 3200 rpm...again, I bracket race so whatever I leave on the table doesn't matter so much...

    4.30's and 28" tire and you can't make a 1/4 mile pass??

what RPM you spin it to? that thing should be fine with that gear tire combo for the 1/4

Hell back in the day, when we would set up our big blocks cars for the motor we would run 4.88's

I am right at 7000 rpm at 1000'...if I set my tach to 6800 rpm the light comes on at 900"...

While my motor will take going through at 7300 it will shorten the life of the motor...I am a bracket racer and don't need to be doing that...heck, 95% of my events are 1/8 mile anyway here in the south...it's all good...
