    Hey all!
Assembly of the steering column has me looking at the flasher actuator knob and as per usual, I will try to use the correct one when I can.
I have two to choose from and they both have different fonts.
I am thinking they were both acceptable. Thoughts?
This is a Norwood car if it matters and I am just looking at this as a curiosity more than anything else.
    Thanks. Flasher Font.jpg

Looks like what I have been seeing.
A mix of chrome and black so... now I am back to square one on this.
Did they out-source the column assembly pre the installation by the assembly line workers or... ?
Such an easy item to replace by people that may have thought the chrome one looked a bit fancier.

Column assembly was not out-sourced. They were assembled by either the Saginaw steering division or by one of the Delco divisions. GM was very vertically integrated back in the 60's-70's and they wouldn't have let an assembly as important as a steering column to a third tier supplier. By this time steering columns were an important part of the safety systems due to being collapsible in front end collisions. Third tiers may have actually molded the knob but did not assemble the column.

Pretty sure the chrome knob on the Camaro was done in 68. 69's had black knobs also. May have coincided with the key moving to the column.

I think the one on my 70 is black too....but to be honest, I'll have to look when I get home to be 100% sure.

Since firebird and camaro columns are interchangeable, wonder if the firebirds had the chrome flasher knobs?
