Yep, it's called flocking. Seem to recall someone using it on a project in wood shop, but that was many moons ago. Would like to try it as I have a NOS console top minus the flocking in the center compartment.

That looks god-awful!!!! didn't that stuff used to be spray-on hair in the 90's?

I can see using it inside a glove box or a center console though.

    Flocked Glovebox

If you are looking for a flocked Camaro glove box check 'Camaro Place' in Florida. I recently replaced the box in my 70. I checked a number of the usual Camaro parts suppliers before finding one at C P. I believe it was less than $20.00.

I took a look at the company "Flocking It Ltd". Yikes, way to involved with the spraying equipment for a such a small onetime use. Looked at some other flocking websites

Will check the sticky back felt at Michaels and Hobby Lobby

I can supply you a new cardboard glove box insert that has flocked paper
    Adhered to the cardboard
Not real authentic flocking but a very acceptable piece for most owners
