Kinda like the Subaru or Evo vortex generators that are put on the roofs. Just google Subaru vortex generator or diffuser and you will see it.

I vote turbonator too. Because just randomly placing these on a roof is gonna be less hit and more miss with the benefits.

I can see where, properly placed, they could make a MINIMAL (less than 1% at a guess) difference in fuel economy by disrupting the airflow over the car.

That said proper placement will be difficult without your own wind tunnel.

http://www.discovery.com/tv-shows/mythbusters/videos/dimpled-car-minimyth.htm You have to scroll down to get to the dimpled car video.

Anything you can do to break up the boundary layer friction between your car's surface and the air stream will help reduce drag. But look what they had to do to get a non-trivial result.

I believe some sea animals use this principle for hydrodynamics as well...

That said, I'm skeptical these pods will reduce anything except your checking account...

They are vortex generators and do have a small effect at very high speeds. The Mistubishi Evo has them on the roof from the factory.

Like any aerodynamic aspect, they have to be placed very specifically to have any positive effect. Just arbitrarily sticking fins on the car will do more harm than good

Have you ever wondered why a golf ball flies so far.....?

    Introducing...

    The Aero-Dimpler!

Put the hammer down on restrictive airflow which is costing you precious fossil fuels!!!

You can achieve a 20% savings in fuel cost by using the specially designed Aero-Dimpler to create the perfectly aerodynamic golf ball dimple pattern in your car's sheet metal.

    Are we serious? You bet!!!!

It's more effective at fuel conservation than those expensive, gimmicky gaspods and you only need one, cheap reusable tool (along with our special template) to accomplish the job on ALL of your steel or aluminum bodied vehicles! :D

Kit comes complete with the Aero-Dimpler

Instructions and a reusable template to achieve perfect results whether you're 8 or 80!

    :D Order yours today!!!! :D

NOTE: Not for use on fiberglass, carbon fiber or plastics automotive panels.

Weird thing is... The Aero-Dimpler just might work.
I think I'll apply for a patent just in case testing proves successful.

Why's that ? Is it wrong information?

    1. I suspect these things do work to improve airflow.
    2. I suspect that user claims in their test section are grossly over actual effects (6%??)
    3. I'd like to know how you go about placing these on a gazillion different models. Do they have instructions for each vehicle model??

I think there might be a lot of placebo effects going on in the numbers shown- folks purposely driving more gently, more slowly, etc... I'd be happy to test them to the best of my ability for free, and happy to pay for them if I see even 3% improvement. Of course, that offer doesn't appear to be available...

This principle with larger dimples DOES work.......(they tested it on mythbusters)

A tip of the hat to you sir! Comic Genius!

I'd patent it any way - make an infomercial and you'd be on your way.
