GETTING KID INVOLVED

I have a step-son that really enjoys going to car shows and local drag strip races. He has even shown an intrest in JR. drags. (have to figure out how to make it look like a Camaro.)He asked me if he was able to go with me down the track this summer and I didn't know yes or no. When is it acceptable or allowed to take a passenger down a 1/4 mile pass. Would this be allowed at a test and tune day or could it even be done at a rented trck day such as the Superfest? Any help with this would be welcomed.

Afraid I don't really have an answer for you about Superfest. We also rent Martin for the Berger Show, well.... 2 years ago it was "yes" you could take passengers along then last year it was "no" you couldn't. Perhaps someone that knows Milan a little better may know.

Martin's a little strict on the rules, so I dont think they'd ever let ya now. If it was a rented track day then youd have a better shot. I thought I saw something in the NHRA rules about a passenger could go if the time was over xx.00

I think it was a crazy slow number, like 20 seconds or something. Do you ever get to Osceola dragway? You could do it there, they are kind of blind to most rules

I really appreciate the input.Yeh, i don't want to run a hardcore run, i would just like to show him what its like actually on the track with the tree and all. I haven't been to the Osceola track. Where is this located? Thanks again.

I believe most tracks will not let passengers ride in the car, unless it's a special circumstance.
You do realize that if you take him, he'll get hooked and then he will be forever in debt to a car, like the rest of us! Unless you're like some people that finance their car habit from pop cans

Belive it or not DRG RACR thats what I'm hoping for. Ever since I got serious about redoing my '71 I havn't had time or money to get into any trouble. So if I pass this one "bad" habbit I have left than I will be proud. He has a really good head start though, an uncle of mine passed a '72 Camaro our way.For only the price of promising we don't sell it and we keep it the same color.(Orange w/ white stripes). One small rust spot behind rear tires. The kid is already telling his friends about it. OH yeah, he is 8.

Keep it up, kids need to develop good habits. There's too many negative influences nowadays, and believe me I've seen what it can do. I can't wait till my daughter gets to be 8, she is getting a Jr Dragster. Then all 3 of us will be racing! I better get a BIIIG trailer!
