This may sound crazy, but pain is also my constant companion at 68. Did alot of research on natural pain management and came across this, and it WORKS. Before or after anything strenuous, take a magnesium tablet. Your muscles and joints will love it.

I haven't been able to cross my legs since grade 5. Good for you to even do that.

I know nobody likes to believe in supplement stuff, but on a daily basis I take:
    -magnesium glycinate
    -vitamin d3+ k2
    -boron
    -zinc picolinate
-cod liver oil (or any good fish oil supplement)
    - ground turmeric powder. (I just sprinkle it on eggs or pasta or anything else it will go with).
I didn't come to this combo by accident, and I hate taking useless hyped crap. This is stuff I've narrowed down over the past 10 years that has made a noticeable difference in joint health, pain and energy.
This is after 40 years of very abusive physical activity on a daily or at least weekly basis, so I have a pretty good diagnostic base of experience to draw from.
Not saying these things are for everyone, and i dont know how they interact with medications, but i know they work for me, and many of you guys have beat yourselves up over the years too.

I take a number of supplements too and as my doctor says "if it's working for you, then it's working". He of course goes by blood test numbers but if those are on then he says it's a "success". I recently turned 69 and just recently retired. So far, other than some "post smoking weight" so far, I do just about anything I want or need to do. Nothing exotic like jumping out of airplanes of course.

Pretty amazing. That's a good bike ride for me, 9 miles walking would probably put me in a walker.

How about leg cramps when you wake up. That sucks when you have to whizz. I fell and smacked my head on the Bathroom door knob on the way down. Ugh. That is when I make sure I take some supplement. Turned 60 in October.

Awesome man. Walking is the best possible thing for health if you can do it. Biking is great too. If unable to do those things, anything physical you can do for 20 minutes or so per day that makes you breathe hard is excellent.
