We have the same model! Cool! Cant wait to see your finish. Do you have stock heads? Will you change them? Did you check out if the t tops leak? If they do, dont worry, with an ultimate set of tools you can fix it. Great project!

I do have the stock heads but aside of the original engine block, im doing an entirely new build. Its going to have the eagle 385 stroker kit, AFR heads, edelbrock intake, and a new 4bbl holley. The T-tops do leak so I'm probably going to have to get new gaskets.

Wow...Im out of your league lol. Will you be streeting it or racing it? When you do replace the seals, take your time and test fit them before you glue them. Its easy if you take it step by step. Be proud of owning that car. Some drivers are going to hate you out of jealousy lol.

project update:

bottom end has been installed and the block has been painted. new oil pump, camshaft, timing set and timing cover have all been installed. i ordered the heads from Airflow Research last month, but they have roughly a 2 month ship date on them due to covid making it harder to source materials.

I could not be more excited! after waiting for 2 months, my cylinder heads finally arrived from Airflow Research and I must say it was worth the wait.

CNC ported
bronze valve guides
stainless valves
upgraded valve springs
scorpion 1.5 ratio rockers

now I just waiting on lifters from Summit, but they are on backorder and keep pushing the expected ship date out.

I have not posted in a while. Unfortunately I have not made much progress on the engine build. I decided against using the eagle stroker kit since it was too close in horsepower rating to what i was expecting to make. So I tore the engine back down, put everything in a box, and bought an Eagle forged ultralight LA crank, Eagle H-Beam rods, SRP forged flat top pistons, and a Fluidampr. I had the whole rotating assembly balanced and when went to install it, I found in multiple places where the rods hit the block. I felt kind of defeated by this, so I pushed it off to the side and started to focus more on my friends '66 impala build. Im hoping to clearance the block again soon and will post more updates when I have something worth updating.

it will more than likely end up as a sunday driver with the hopes to take it to the track occasionally and maybe some car meets.
