I've been hearing how the gas engines were going away since the mid 80s. The V8 was supposedly dead in the early 90s. I'll believe it when I see it, until then it's all hype.

    Knuckle,
We were told back in the 60s that within a few years, electric vehicles would completely replace gas engines in cars. So, here we are 60 years later, and yes, there are a few electric vehicles on the road now so we are making progress. However, if things don't speed up, it could take another 100-200 years to get there.

Weren't we going to be out of gas by the late 80's too? I remember reading that in the weekly scholastic reader in grade school.

gas isn't going away soon, it would be a slow burn as the infrastructure just isn't there yet, nor is our battery technology. But this is the start and we'll slowly see more electric cars on the road which will eventually out number the gas. 2020 is different from the 80s where electric is actually a viable option now. 40 years ago it was not.

I think I heard the same thing about CNG...............

We have brown outs and rolling blackouts in major urban areas because there is too much demand, but the electric car makes everything alright.

    Hippy Bullshit.

Only thing is it's not a demand issue, its malicious negligence on the supply side.
