Is the motor suppose to ground to the firewall?

The thick grommets in the three fastener locations offset it from the firewall
I don't remember a lead grounding motor the firewall
The motor diagrams in the 1971 Fisher manual show a ground symbol downstream of a circuit breaker. It looks like the lead coming off the circuit breaker grounds to the motor housing.

Thanks Jodi. One of the grommets with the last 71 replacement motor has the ground strap that yours has.

So far the 2017 installed motor and two warranty replacements stopped working. The last failure was Sunday. A third replacement is ready for me.

Have been going through every little detail from power leaving the wiper fuse to grounding.

    Rick:

In your second posting, I see the three motor connections are sorta vertical. The LBL wire goes on the bottom, double black-yellow in the middle and the single solid black at the top. The long Double black-yellow provides the power from the fuse and the short length sends power to the pump.

Your wiring looks to be factory original by the wiring colors

Below is from the 1971 Fisher body manual for the round motor, which is hidden wiper. Standard wipers have a square motor

Sometime tomorrow I will throw a new fuse into my fuse block and start checking for power on my wiring and let you know if anything matches your car.

My original 1970 wiper motor. See the ground strap.
