Our local Marine Corps Ball is delayed a week this year due to scheduling conflicts at the venue. I'll be rubbing elbows next Saturday at the ball. I hope the rest of you Marines are doing the same at your local ball.

Those are the clean ones Compared the more " lively" ones when you are out in the Fleet and in boot camp.

We celebrated the Marine Corps birthday last night, a week late. The oldest Marine in attendance was a 95 year old WWII veteran who survived the battle to take Okinawa from the Japanese.
For people not familiar with the Marine Corps birthday celebration, an important part of the tradition is the cutting of the birthday cake. The cake is cut by the highest ranking officer present using a ceremonial sword. Then, the first piece of the cake is served to the guest of honor. The second piece goes to the oldest Marine and then is passed on to the youngest Marine.
