I just received new headlight and signal light bezels as well as grills from OER for my 79 Z28. I am trying to match the factory as much as possible.

Do the bezels need to be painted or is the finish from OER going to hold up to the environment?
If it must be painted (either to match factory or to protect it from the environment), what sheen of black (flat, semi-gloss, etc) should the bezels be painted?
Do the grills need to be painted or are they fine with the no sheen black from OER?

The bezels are fine with the black finish they were molded with. They hold up well and no paint is necessary.
(They usually look worse after a few years if you paint them.)

I painted a silver grill black and used SEM trim black.
It matched the factory color quite well. It's a satin finish.
If you are getting a black grill, I would leave it alone.

My facotry black head and parking light bezels were faded. I painted them with black SEM trim paint. Also did the inserts and fuel door between the taillights. It looks good.

Same here, just the head/turn bezels, all is well.
