Headman long tube with pipes 2.5" x-over kit and pypes race turbos on sbc with th-350 transmission. My car is lowered. The headers are barely under the subframe. I've not had any clearance issues or scraping. The female header collectors tube needs one or two pie cuts and welds to make correct angle to the header but the rest was pretty easy.
Gorgeous car. Very clean work too.

Just received my Hedman 68608 Elite headers (as recommended by several folks here) Looks like I'll need to "clearance" them for the 3, 4 and 7, 8 plugs on my AFR angle plug heads.... DANG. Just to close for comfort on the plug boots. On the upside, they look fantastic, and dropped right in like a hot knife through butter from the top with the plugs installed.

I have Headman 66104 which is ceramic coated version of the 65104. I purchased them in February 2014 and steering shaft clearance is good. The hardest plug to change for me is #6. But a few are a PITA.

What you have looks like you would not be able to remove the plugs without 1st unbolting the headers even if you clearance them, which personally I would rather not do on the expensive coated set! I can take some pics of mine in the engine bay when I get home from work.

66104 may give you a little more room. Here’s a picture of them on my 70 with 350/Muncie setup.

Did any Nasty members recommend those 68608's for angle plug heads ? not to mention raised exhaust ports (unless as cast Enforcer's).

Hedman/Summit say they work for angle or straight plugs, but now you have to hammer on 1/2 of the nice coated pipes, and now may be restricted to limited plug choices in the "shorty" styles.

It's one of the reasons why I usually recommend the Hooker SC #2117 to my 2nd gen SBC customers. Yes, long tube versions, thinner flange by .070 and more expensive than the 68608 (+455$), but they fit Auto or manual with Z-bar, straight or angle plug head, stock exhaust location or +.100-.250 raised, with any plug the engine likes/needs with no hammering on the pipes for fitment. Even rolled over angle milled heads, they fit.

Also, no need to buy another set in the future when they decide to "change heads" to upgrade, or try different sets.

I use these HSC 2117 on my '72 Zed, Zbar Magnum 6pd, Moroso Ultra 40's w/sleeves, can do a plug change in <10 min easy, never suffered a burnt anything. Those Ultra 40's are now over 350$, cost money burning those LOL.

I guess I took the advice and notes from Hedman specs that 68608 "fit" angle plug heads. I also had trouble trying to install an old set of long tube Hookers (that were on the car with the original 350 LM1) with my original starter installed. So then I took the starter off, put the long tubes in place, and with my Moroso kick-out pan, could not get the starter back in place. What a pickle. So with that, I decided I needed shorties.
I took them over to a friends place to massage them with his hydraulic press. Didn't want to bash on them with a BFH. They dimpled quite easily with the press with only slight marring of the coating. No cracking. So without going crazy on them, I've got about 1/4" or more on the offending (2, 4, 3, 7) plug boots (Autolite 3922 plugs as recommended by AFR) Might have to at least loosen the headers to change plugs though and use a box end wrench instead of a socket. Would like to lower the car someday too, so that influenced my decision to not use long tube.
Sourced the 68608 from T-Dot here in Canada. Cost me $862 tax in.
Kind of hard to tell from the pics, but a good 1/4" or more clearance on those plug boots now. We'll see if they melt I guess. Would anyone recommend protectors? Or try first and see how we do?

I dunno, maybe some of you folks might cringe at the sight of the dimples, but I was not about to get into ordering multiple sets of headers for trial and error fitment and return shipping costs. Also ALL of this stuff comes in from the good ole USA, so returns are not cheap to do. Maybe if I put heat protectors on the plug wires, those will "cover up" the dimpled pipes.

That looks "Nasty" no pun intended :D. It shouldn't affect performance but DANG definitely affect the curb appeal!
Did those AFR heads come with raise exh. ports?
