Added a new family member last weekend. Real cute pup but there seems to be a problem we havent experienced before. Soon as she poops, she turns around and gobbles it up. We all try to discourage of course but she is real persistant . Tried a remedy learned from the internet but didnt work at all.

Any suggestions before I call the vet?

You shouldn't have to buy any dog food then, she's a recycler.
There is an additive you can feed them that makes doing that undesirable, but you might try changing her food to something more nourishing first.

On another note - if you are having struggles with potty training, I hung a little cow bell by the back door and rang it every time I opened the door for potty breaks. It was almost instant - my dog rang the bell when he needed the door open to go potty. That helped break the communication barrier a lot.

Carry a bottle of hot sauce, as soon as it poops, smother it in the sauce
They also make a puppy "no chew" spray that is pepper based that works too

    She is very cute!

My Golden puppy used to do the same thing. Other than passing gas, there were no ill effects. As he aged his habit stopped on its own and I then had to start pooper scooping. Life was easier when he ate crap....!

I was taking a drink of my Monster when I read that, needless to say only thing I smell right now is Monster because it came thru my nose.

When I worked at a vet, we used to sell a product called "Bitter Apple" that was made for stuff like this.

Definitely going to try the bell thing Dirt mentioned for house breaking.

Plan to get some spray to deter chewing/eating stuff but Im not sure that will work in my situation with the crap. She poops then ,without hesitation, immediately turns around to munch it down..lol She doesnt mess with non-fresh poop.:dumper:

And this is why I don't let dogs lick my face....

My aunt is nasty, says their mouths are more sanitary then humans...
LOL she didn't see her beloved dog eat it's own sh*t before she let him lick her face.
