i am looking to have the top end on my engine reassembled. yup, just lost the desire to do it. i have had quotes from 300 to 500. need to have the cam degreed, heads torqued, intake installed etc.

i had a shop that agreed to do it and did not touch the motor in 6 months. dont want to go through that again.

    thx, ryan

Ryan, Jerry at Ace Machine in Riverside always did me right. Little bit of a drive from San Diego though.

That's just a few miles from where I used to live. I never heard of them, not that that means anything. Lot's of automotive related places started to spring up in that area. Let us know how they do.

    Ryan,

Who had the motor for 6 months?

Machinetech in Oceanside is very competent : http://www.machinetechracing.com/files/index.php?id=12

I don't really like the owner but they are honest and do quality work last I checked.

I use HDS in Escondido a lot:

    http://www.hdsautoparts.com/Escondido-auto-parts.html

I've had a number of engines built there - Don and the guys are honest and they are an old school machine shop. Speed depends upon how busy they are at the moment (but Don doesn't like to leave work lying around when his guys can be producing) - Price would be however many hours they have into it. You can tell them that Joe Davies referred you.

Rick MacDonald at Pro-Air in Escondidio:

    http://yellowpages.10news.com/pro+air+motorsports.9.64688213p.home.html

Is honest to a fault and meticulous in detail. He's a one man shop out of his home and specializes in nostalgia dragsters. He's done a number of jobs for me including two engines. Time would be the issue sometimes as he gets on a deadline and can't look at other projects but give him a call and tell him I referred you.

Here's a link to Ricky's Dragster Garage so you can see what he does:
