hood release handle?

This is how I got my camaro but when I put the front grill back on I wont be able to open the latch I have to be missing a piece or is this is the wrong hood latch for a 1972 camaro?

Looks correct to me me , the back of your grille should have a radius on one of the slats.

That is the correct latch for a 1972 Camaro w/Standard front end (NOT RS). Make sure you are using the 1972 Grille. The grille slats are larger than the 70-71. DO you have pics of the interference?

You may have the wrong grille. People not too familiar with these cars thinks 70-73 are identical...Not True. If you can't pop the hood open with the grille in, then you probably have a 70 grille which has way smaller holes. Google search images of the grilles for all 4 years and you'll see what I'm talking about.
