Looking for some experienced users to give me some guidance.
Got these from the big brown truck today!

First I would like to know if anybody is running tubes. The Hoosier website says I don't need to but it is acceptable. The car will see street use.

I will be putting bead screws in the rim. I was told by another racer that the amount of screws affect the stiffness of the sidewall. The more the stiffer.
I was planning on 16 screws per bead.
On a side note, do the screws on the inside bead need to aligned with the outer screws? I don't think it matters but I'm asking just in case.

Last question for now. Burnouts, heavy or light?
It was suggested to me to make a moderate burnout the first one of the night and light ones for subsequent runs.

I have never worried about matching screw location, round is round, I just make sure they are as equal as possible, easier to balance that way.
Those are pretty damn big, unless you are running 7-8 seconds, I doubt you will need a heavy burnout.
16 a side works good, I've seen guys do fine with less also, depending on weight and 60'.
I'm not a tube guy, we just talking about this and I stopped using tubes a long time ago.

Good luck with your new toys, race safe.

The tires are a little (probably a lot) bigger than I need. There are 10.5 guys flying. I'm not doing any event racing, just doing it for fun. Maybe some grudge racing against some buddies to test-n-tune nights.

Mr. D. thanks for the input.

Those Quick Time Pro's were going to be my first choice but decided on the M/T ET Street Drag Radial .mine are smaller as I'm only running a 275/60-15

As for getting tire pressure correct and how hot to get them in the water box I would contact Hoosier

I looked at the E/T Streets but the QTP's have a narrower section width for the same size tire.

Thats the tire I run on my 66 small block truck. It's basically a 33x17 -15 slick and DEAD HOOKS with 9.75psi to 1.44 sixtys / 10.4's @ 120's in my junk. In fact I have a new unmounted pair I'm going to sell (with the truck, going back to street only as that happens)

My 66 is backhalved so your mileage may vary, but for me they need a decent burnout after sitting all off-season, then just a enough to build a little smoke and there good. They are like a big squeegee so watch those waterbox tenders that FLOOD the trough. I pull around the water and back in to the 'wet spot' with the street tread front tires... besides it keep the steamrollers from queegying water up out of the trough. If you do drive through,, I'd suggest you sit there for a many seconds and let the water drain back around the slick before you sling it up into the wheelwell. (just to drip back down at the stating line). Give it a 1-2-3 count in high gear @ 5500 and come out under power. Stage and let them eat. And the WILL eat parts if you dead-hook like my pile. I have found every weak link from lug studs through axles, differentials, housings, u-joints, twisted shaft, and some cool pieces for a $3000 Hughes TH400,

Marv D, that is some good information, I appreciate you posting it. I can't wait to get my Camaro out of paint prison and get to the track and open the Dominator up!

Yeah the tire is a lot bigger than I need. I am not doing any points running. Not sure about events. Just wanting to have fun, talk smack, and smell the high octane fuel. I do plan on pushing the car but staying away from the "edge". I will admit the fat tire "look" was a factor into getting the tires. I don't even have a brake in the trans. So foot brake and some giggle gas is the plan for now. This is my first big tire car so I'm into a huge learning curve. I have no idea what times this car will produce. This motor is a test mule for the car. I have a cubic ass load of tuning as this is a fresh car and I'm green as a bull frog at this level. I don't even have a logger(yet). I read about half way through all those pages in th YB link. Definitely some good info there. Lots of technical stuff, gonna have to read it a couple of times.
