It makes too much bottom end torque................................... makes me spin my tires real hard. Went to the track to test the SBC 358 pump gas motor with the roller cam and 300-36 and while I ran an 11.38@118mph with it, most of the night all I did was spin the tires. One run was so bad I over revved the engine, (oops my bad) so I am thinking of putting either the Brodix 1016 or the 300-25 back on the car. I am willing to bet it will go 120mph with the -25. For all you Air Gap fans out there, the 300-36 is the best dual plane intake I have ever tested, hands down.
Was funny as a few guys I was talking with were running real hard tonight so I asked what they had. One guy with a 2nd gen F car had a 455 Pontiac and was 1 tenth quicker and 1 mph better. Another guy with a 60's Chevelle had a super nice 406 with aluminum 195 AFR heads running almost the same as I ran. I swapped back to my bias ply tires and lost 2 tenths and 1 1/2 mph. Funny how those radials work.

As always, Thanks for sharing your results 1980RS. I guess based on your results, there are many ways to interpret the data. Looks like the ET/MPH are very telling for the smaller 358 and that dual plane combo...... Makes one wonder the + impact of lighter/smaller crank throws, shorter stroke and bearing speeds and there effects on rotational mass acceleration, everything else being equal.

Is there any chance you have, or have access to an original GM Z/28 or LT1 dual plane intake, that would be great to see that one A-B-A tested against the 300-36, bet it would hold it's own, or maybe slightly better !!!

My best/funnest summer was back in the early 90's, 71 Camaro, 327 cast 2 bolt, 1.94 ported camel humps, TH350/3K conv. with 3.73's 26x8 slick, 750 Holley with a 150 NOS plate, that thing ran low 11.1's @ 119.5 MPH with a 1.5 60ft, and I was using an original GM Z/28 intake, it was the best intake I ever used !! of course sold it for dirt cheap and changed the combo to go faster, yep, never did go quicker after many changes LOL, live and learn.

I wish I did have one of those intakes, they're real expensive right now. The last run I put on my 830hp Holley and it was right par with the Mighty Demon with less low end so of course it hooked better but with the Holley the 60 ft times were pretty bad. I know if they would prep the track better at the Rock on would not have to fart around all night but that's no different than running on the street. Like Joe Sherman used to say "I'll give up some low end to get it back down track" I may have to do the same.

With the large following of fans and testimonials for this 300-36, it makes one wonder why they quit producing it. I guess the "next best" in the same configuration is the RPM Performer ?

I have 2, an early version that says contender and a newer version currently on my car that says street dominator plus an original 70-72 LT-1 intake. At some point I'll be selling one of the 300-36's and the original LT-1 intake. Can't beat the 300-36, great piece.

Maybe taller tires (or different rear gears) would help with the "Too Much Low-End Torque" problem. ;)
