Yeah, I wasn't thrilled about that, but the guy that is fitting the swap for me on a weekend at his shop(as a favor) used these on his 81Z and knows exactly how to line up everything so I felt like it was $ well spent!

If nothing else, this appears like it might end up one of the nicest and cleanest installs when done. Sometimes that alone is worth the extra cash. Not sure what the rest of your car looks like, but if it a clean car, then buying cheap parts to make it work wouldn't be doing it justice.

Just for kicks- used the old headgasket and bolts to do a quick mock up. Should look good with the LS3/GM aluminium intake and 850 Holley carb. Will leave oil pan sluminium, not sure about timing cover yet.

A bit off topic but just again a little info to keep everyone moving to the dark LS side.

Back from 800 round trip from the Good Guys De Moines.

Averaged 21 mpg. Town, grid lock near the fairgrounds and 75-80 mph on the freeway.

100 degree heat and the fan cycled in and out as needed.Never got above 215 degrees on the temp gauge. Never felt like it was gettting hot.

L92 with TKO600. TSP 225-230 cam. Dynoed at 411 rwhp during the tune.

I needed a nap during the trip and my wife drove for awhile and had to remind her the speed limit on the freeway is 70 not 80 plus.

My buddy with his 71 Nova with a 6.0 and TKO 600 was behind me as Nova's should be was almost identical mpg.

Need cruise control as my right foot is still tired.

My only logged trip I got with my 4L60e was 20-21mpg going 75mph steady from St Louis to Chicago.

I'm very curious to see how my 6.0L / T-56 does with the 3.73 gears on a highway trip.
    I'm hoping for 26mpg

    Doug, looks great!

Just another comment on the engine mounts...

I don't know if everyone has experienced this, but when I was fitting the engine, using adapter plates and "original" type motor mounts, I found that the adapter plates added almost .5" to the "width" of the engine, and then the main bolt didn't line up. I had to modify the frame mounting points to make it all work.

I was thinking at the time that someone should design something for LS swaps that entirely circumvents having to use the OE style mount. It looks as if Chris Alston has done that. Yes, a little pricey, but it may be worth it.

Well- now it has changed. I've been speaking with Geoff on the phone- looking like Monday/Tuesday for delivery.
