Your mother just gave you a house.

    Buy her something for $5-6,000.00.

It will be cheaper in the long run and she's your mom - and deserves it!

I agree completely. We sold a ton of these cars over the past 20 years and have had no real warranty issues to speak of and they run forever. Their dependability is one of GMs best kept secrets.

She doesn't want a nice item right now til everything's done. Her little geo tracker is on it's last breath. She likes the little corollas we looked at on Craigslist going to go check one out.

Freedom, DO NOT buy the 2.0 SOHC split port focuses or Tauruses, they have a very nasty habit of dropping a valve seat and blowing the motor. I'm in the process right now of replacing the 2.0 in my aunts focus, dropped the valve seat and made something blow a hole in the oil pan. Its a known, widespread issue, so good luck finding a motor for it. I've been looking for one for over a month, and just today picked one up at a pick u part. just an fyi.

Duratecs are fine btw, no valve seat issues.

My dad sold his cavalier with 310,000 miles, the only thing he ever did was maintenance and fix a small oil leak other than that it was bulletproof and got him 30mpg.

They are cheap and popular economy cars.

2001-2003 Focus' had lots of problems. You couldn't give those things away when I first started in the rental industry.

Buying anything with 181k is a roll of the dice. No way to tell how well it was taken care of.

Lol @ "priced well below blue book @ $2900".....
