Intake height. Edelbrock vs Stock?

Same issue here. My stock intake on my 81 is the GM 14014432. The carb deck height is 3.05" and the 2101 is 4.05 in the front but the carb sits on an angle and the back is higher. Wondering if anyone has found a performance intake that has the low profile with a spread bore carb.

That is the aluminum intake which I believe has the same profile as its cast iron counterpart. Where did you find the carb pad measurement, or did you actually measure ? There are numerous 2nd gens running the 2101 w/ a flat hood. Edelbrock states that it is .25" taller than OE IIRC. Not many performance intakes worth having that sit lower than it.

I think it's fine with a standard flat hood as you say. I'm using a 1980 Z28 hood that has a round ring attached underneath it. That ring and the 1980 Z28 air cleaner with the thick rubber gasket form a seal with the hood ring. Thats what's causing the clearance issue. I've gotten by using an aftermarket rubber ring (see earlier post) that is thinner.

I measured it.

Hey there Geno. What size Cooper Cobras are you running there? Those are 15 x 7 rims I assume, so what have you got out back and front for sizes? I was hoping to run 275/50R15 on the rear on an 8 inch rim, with 245/60's up front on a 7" rim. I've got some 15x7 3rd gen alloys, and am planning to widen the rears to 8".

For various reasons, such as being factory correct and having an accurate speedometer, I went with 225/70/15. I think you're number are good, except I'm afraid your 275s might rub. Ask others on this forum. I'm no expert. Good luck.
