For some reason, the NAPA branded units come w/ only a 2yr replacement warr vs 3 yr fo the name brand Exide Orbital, unless the NAPA salesperson was mistaken.

I bought the Optima red top yesterday - I turns the big block like crazy. This battery must be nuclear powered. 3 year free replacement,no pro-rating, 800 CCA and it supposedly charges 60% faster than a lead acid. I like it. Thanks for the advice.

I've been debating this too, based on the info here, if I have the money, I'll be getting one when my car is done!!!

    .

Have red top in slow car, always had great performance. 16 V in fast car, but I would be using a red top if I didn't. Saw a red top last week, it was ~$110.

Where did you see a red top for $110? Was it one of the chains?

The deal with the optima battery is they have no plates to smack together when launching hard or cornering hard. They can be mounted in anywhere. I had a red top in my 79... No issues over 4 years.
