Is there a better way than jacking up your car to work under it?

I saw that someone here lift his 2nd gen camaro by the pinch weld

Mine is a 1970 one

I have a 2 posts lift, usually I lift my camaro by the front subframe and the rear frame near the springs leaf pockets

But now I need to lift it by the pinch weld because I need to remove my rear leaf springs and my bolted subframe connectors (so I can't use the rear jacking points on the subframe)

I want to use the pinch weld for the rear with pinch weld blocks (and frame for the front) but I'm not sure where to put the lift on the pinch weld

Do you have photos of where you put the lift on the rear pinch weld ?

I m afraid of using the pinch weld because I have always used the frame.
Is it really safe ?

I guess the real question is...
Has anyone here successfully used Quick Jacks on a 2nd gen?
Yes, but I have sub frame connectors. Rocker panels and pinch welds are not a good place, I've tried them. Car is in storage now but I'll take a look when I get it out, see if there's a good contact point in the rear w/o sfc's.

So I can t place lift under the rear frame (connectors are in the way and I will remove them)

Safe or not using pinch weld, that is the question ?

Try finding some hard rubber mat or some UHMV in the correct thickness, cut a slot in it to surround the pinchweld....

Yes I have a rubber pinch weld block but I'm afraid of using the pinch weld

Only one person (thechamp) have used pinch weld to lift his car (page 7 on this thread)

Others people say it s a bad idea

And I don t really know where to put them on the rear parts of the rocker panel

Look on the inside of pinch weld, make sure you clear any lines running along it. I trimmed a 4x6" piece of wood and made a slot with a router. You can likely get by with what you want to do but I wouldn't want to continually lift at the pinch weld.

I don't think its the best idea, but done the right way under some control I think its OK... With the block idea you spread out the lifting force... Shoving a jack under it and jacking away while bending the pinch weld does not work....
